HTCone(M8) Whatsapp blocked by policy

HTC one (m8) Whatsapp is blocked by Corporate IT policy.

I have been told that I can bypass this block by using a VPN app.
My questions are:
1) Is it possible to bypass the block
2) What would I need to install to bypass the block
3) How would I configure the app

I'd say that your first bet would probably be to talk to your IT people to see if the block is an error or they have any ideas for a way to get around it.

Using a VPN to make the app work would probably work fine, but I imagine it would only work while the VPN is running, and it would probably keep your corporate stuff from working. I don't know much about how VPNs work, so hopefully someone else will chime in with how to use them and the limitations they might present.

A VPN would more than likely bypass the block. I'm currently using Check Point VPN, which is as simple as installing an app and entering your Check Point account details.
Check Point - Security Appliances, Security Gateways, Security Management, Endpoint Security, and Software Blades

If you do have a VPN running which gives you a tunnel through the corporate firewall, anything that's on your phone that uses the company's internal servers may not work.
