I am confused........please help.....

Hi Friends,

I want to buy a new phone but i am confused between xperia s and samsung galaxy s2. I feel that the only downside in xperia s is the 32 GB fixed memory.

Is 32 GB really enough? I have also heard that only 25 GB is available for the user, why is it so? What's occupying the rest of the storage space? Is it the pre installed bloatware? Is there an easy way to get rid of it, I mean without rooting?

Another big question is what is the size of full HD videos taken by xperia s?

Please help......

Some of the internal memory is reserved for the various partitions that the phone needs to run.

Every device does this

Get the xs. its beautiful.

I was like you with regards to the memory 'limitation'
Same as the non removable battery.
In my opinion though, 25gb is plenty.
And with the non removable battery you can force a reboot if the phone has frozen for what ever reason by holding power and volume up for 5seconds or shut it off completely by holding it for 10seconds.

I now only have about 500mb left, but i have around 4gb of APA apps according to the storage manager, I'll post a picture in a mo.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys. What about the size of the video recordings. I mean how much space does a 1 minute full HD video take?

Also, how is xperia ion? i have heard that it suffers from battery life issues even though its battery is bigger. Also, its camera is not as great as xperia s despite the fact that both phones use identical hardware.

81.77mb is the size of a 720p 57seconds long video.

Don't have any at full 1080.

No idea about the ion.

I was going to get the Galaxy S2, but my son then told me he was on his fourth replacement S2 handset because of problems with not being able to hear calls.
He recons that the sound processor is sub-standard and makes the ear speaker crackly during calls (and that this has now been fixed on the Galaxy S3).

So I got the Xperia S - and I am very pleased with it.

Looks great (I like the minimalist look of the squared-off casing).
Fantastic screen*
Good quality sound for calls and for music.
Plenty of storage space for me.

* In the shops, the XS screen looks a bit dim compared to the OLED screens of the Galaxy and some HTCs. Get it away from those though and it really comes alive.

I have excellent sound clarity i find.
And people say the phones screen looks a bit meh compared to others, the way i see it is kinda like you said, get it out of the shop and look at it for what it is and you'll see how nice it is.
