I FIXED my stinking battery drain!! WOOT!

Ever since one of the kitkat updates, and all the way through 5.1 Lollipop, my 2012 N7 has had battery issues. It got expecially bad after 5.1 . In sleep mode it would drain in about 10 hours. I tried all sorts of things and nothing worked. Something kept waking it up and never let it fully sleep.

Finally found it. Turned the location setting from high accuracy to gps only, and Holy Cow! I now get 4 DAYS between charges. I don't know if there's a problem with my router or what, but since I don't use my tablet for navigation type stuff, gps only is fine.

Got a battery issue? Do this first!

I always keep my location set to battery saving on all my devices espically tablets
Guess it really does help

Actually, battery saving didn't work. It was the phone trying to get a location through the wifi and cellular that was waking my phone, and that's what the "battery saving" mode does. It was when I switched to "Device only" that my battery life on standby came back.

ok good deal, I was confused you asked about the Nexus 7 2012 then say its your phone with data so is it the nexus 7 with data capabilities?
Anyway glad its fixed
