Root I STILL can't get wifi tethering to work after it randomly stopped working!

A couple months ago my wifi tethering stopped working seemingly randomly. Since then I have tried a bunch of thing to get it to work again. I tried to factory reset and that didn't work so I flashed Energy ROM wifi tether app wouldn't work for that either. I tried installing all 11 wifi tether betas and none of them worked. I tried reinstalling binaries for each one too. Should I try reinstalling the radio or wimax? I'm pretty new to this so I'm not sure what other thing might be causing this problem, but it seems whatever the problem is it's consistent across multiple ROMs. Anyone have any suggestions of what to try?

I'm currently on Energy ROM
