Just got a Note 8.. used from Craigslist. can it be rooted?

it is a Samsung Note8 16GB.. model SGH-I467
running 4.4.2 .. Baseband viersion I467UCUBNI2 .. Kernel 3.031-1848029
tested with AT&T sim card.. works fine.

3 questions..
1. can it be ROOTED?? please point me to the correct instructions.

2. it seems to be pretty dead in this sub forum. does that mean it does not have a big ROM development support. so it will not get good android versions after 4.4???

3. how can I set it up to make phone calls?
of course with a headphone

4th question....

the USB data cable I got from the seller... it is a flat wire... works fine.
but when I use my USB data cable from my Samsung S3.. the NOTE does not see it.
the S3 does see the Note8's flat cable.
the Note3 can also see the Note8's flat cable.

dose the NOTE 8 have a different USB port?

2. Check XDA-Forums, when it comes to this device, they have more content and tend to be more active.
3. You can activate it on any GSM network, or use free apps like hangouts, magicjack etc.
4. No, there should be no difference. It should work on this device too.

3... I have used the Google voice and Hangouts and hangouts dialer on my other devices to do free VOIP using Google phone number. works fine.
so.. I could setup the same on my NOTE8 and it should work.

new issue...
when I got the Note8.. I put my ATT SIM card in and it worked fine.. surfed the internet.
I took out my SIM card. a few days later I tried to put it in.
It keeps ejecting the SIM card. it will NOT "click" in.
I only feel the spring pushing it back out.. NO clicking.
it will not "hold" the card.
I have tried to insert it in all directions.

any ideas on what to try??

Blow on it, make sure it is clear of dust. Then use a fingernail to push it in till it clicks.
