Hey guys and gals I've been playing with the recent N5 system dump and scouring various sites/sources for KitKat (Android 4.4) apps that are backward compatible to 4.1.2 to give Elite users a taste of KitKat.

I'm putting together a thread to centralize all the compatible things and will update it as I make more progress. Most things work with the exception of GoogleHome, DeskClock, Calculator and maps.
These all install like normal APKs so here we go...

Must install new Google Play Services (Now and Hangouts are dependent on it.)

Well they're all signed...the only issue I've found is Google Home...it force closes and its got something to do with not having offline voice recognition/ search. If we could get offline voice built in we could use the new launcher. But sure I'd imagine you could.
 
@phenomx4 there's also a issue with the dimensions for the launcher. Anything hdpi and smaller have the keyboard randomly popping on the home screen. It seems to be working best with xhdpi/xxhdpi ... Id love to reverse engineer it to work with this device but that's above my paygrade. Any thoughts?
 
Question: which file manager is the best/easiest to use for installing the lib files for hangouts and googlenow?

I tried placing the lib files in the directories as instructed but cant even do that without receiving some weird error that the file cant be opened in order to be copied/moved... I'm using ES Explorer at the moment.

I've personally always used root explorer a paid app by speedsoft. A good free alternative is jrummys root explorer.
