Kyocera Android Swype Messaging App Frozen

I am very appreciative of any and all help someone can offer. Swype and messaging was working normally. I did not download any content recently, or apps. All of a sudden, it stopped working. I checked Swype settings and they are set to English. When I try to use swype it freezes, nothing happens. If I can manage to get one word typed on the screen, the delete/back button does not work. I tried a hard reset with the battery. Basically Messaging seems to be in a vicious cycle of permanent crash. HELP, PLEASE!

Have you tried another messenger app?

Thanks for your question. I have not. It seems like it is a keyboard issue as the letters appear to get 'stuck' and then don't work when I press them.

I can download a messaging app and try that, though. Can you suggest one that you like?

I found the Nuance Swype Keyboard App that is basically the UPDATE for the SWYPE software that comes with the device. There was no update when I checked on the Swype that was already loaded on the device, but after checking the Swype FACEBOOK page, I found the update listed which leads to a Google Play Store app that costs $3.99 but there is also a free one. Since when are software updates only available in the form of an app that forces permissions for things that I might not want? I basically have to either give permissions or not have keyboard capability. In any case this is resolved, thank you!
