Root Looking around for a rom dump from Tapout Edition Ascend.

If you've got the new Ascend, And can do a rom dump, Please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated. Even if you are just able to copy mms.apk, That would be helpful too. Anything you have, Would be wonderful! ^.^ <3
 
Almost throttled the guys in the Metro store when they told me the only "upgrade" for the ascend w to buy the TapouT edition... Then it hit me.... Same Model would have the rom I needed... PLEASE someone make it work....
 
it will be posted when someone is able to root it and make a backup rom, and rooting the tapout might not be the same as the ascend 2.1....but if you want an unofficial 2.2 that works and everything iin it i suggest cm6, and also cm7is ood also with a few bugs nothing major tho.
 
Deb, you are AWESOME!!! Ascend users have been foaming at the mouth for an official 2.2 update for too long, having to skate by with glitchy mods made by brilliant programmers out of desperation. You are about to become a hero to many many ascend users, you will also be known as one of the first to supply the precious rom...
 
He is doing a backup after a factory restore. We had a MD5 mismatch from his back up on my phone. We think it might be his Google information. We're trying again.

I just want a clean bugless functional 2.2 and I'll be one happy guy!
CM6 is awesome but few bugs and can't connect it to my MAC so that sucks..
 
It was a no go. We tested it. It does not let you add an APN. If you try to, Then press save, It is instantly erased. It does not show there is any APN when you either say "Open APNS" to voice dialer, Or use an APN manager. If you download an APN manager though, You will lose the bars in your service. Followed by UIM error. Then if you try to restore to anything but stock/rooted you'll get "Insert SIM card". So you'd have to revert to stock/rooted anyways. Okay, Point of what I'm saying is we can't get data to work. You can make calls like normal. The phone seems slightly faster than it was at stock 2.1. Though I cannot verify how much faster as it lacked data which can ultimately slow a phone down depending. Other people are still trying it. I don't know where it is going and I've done all I can for today. Others have been having boot loop and other issues....X_X

Status of test: FAILED.

EDIT: Anduiril MIGHT do a back up with a newer CWM, Then someone with a newer CWM will try it. We shall see. Don't quote me.
