i plan on removing the battery and clock icon from the taskbar and was looking for a very simple and clean battery widget thats just text with no images. some thing similar to the BW smaller home would be perfect.

This looks like a possibility although I haven't tried it out.
Battery Monitor
"Battery Monitor is a simple application that allows you to monitor your battery percentage either in the status bar or by using a widget that works with the Android widget framework. Open up the Battery Monitor application and use the button at the bottom to toggle your current battery percentage in the status bar. Your selection is saved across reboots and Battery Monitor will launch at boot and display the percentage if you had the application running before you turned your phone off or rebooted."
