Lost with a No-Name tablet

For Fathers Day, my daughter thought she would do something really cool for me. She had overheard me talking to my wife about getting a tablet for when I traveled. So, she did her research on Tmart and got me a tablet.

*Sigh*

She is young. This thing is...well, I am sure you know.

Anyhow, I am trying to get by with this thing without showing my frustration, I really don't want her to be upset that she bought me...well, you know what she bought me.

So, rooting it, and a custom ROM might get me past the battery drain in sleep mode, and such. In reality, reading books, the occasional video, infrequent email checking and checking facebooger is all it has to do, without draining the battery before I reach my destination.

My first problem?

Who the heck makes this thing? Which forum do I start in?

Thanks in advance, gang, rooting my phone and installing a custom ROM was super easy with the help of this forum, I hope I can get past this as well!

Here is a link to the tablet.

I read the instructions on the details page. This is obviously a Chinese no-brand device. The good news is a lot of these come rooted by default. You might try root checker. If so you may only need to install SuperSU and the SU binary to access root. The bad news is I doubt you'll find a custom rom for this thing. Who knows what's inside?

According to the spec's it's got and estimated 3-4 hours of use on the battery, so I doubt you'll ever see more than that with any tweaks, and possibly less.

It is what it is, unfortunately.

Well, I know one app I use, aldiko sync, needs root to work, and it would not sync.

I will give greenify a try, sorry I wasn't clear, but the battery actually seems to drain faster when "asleep" than when I use it. Frustrating.

I will use root checker as well.

Thanks for the timely feedback! Will report back results soon.

Unknown "MID" type Chinese device. Lousy internal battery life is a frequent issue with them, not a lot can be done with software alone, usual solution is to use an external USB pack with them for when travelling, away from power outlets etc.
