Help Mass Storage Device?

For whatever reason I do not get access to either the internal or external sd card as a mass storage device when I use a usb cable. All I want to do is transfer some music to either sdcard. I have windows xp sp3 with media player 11 like the phone keeps trying to tell me I dont have. I figured I would try samsung kies, but it just says connecting and never does. The only time I can see the internal sdcard contents is if I put it in camera mode, but I cant copy anything to the phone. Please help!

Some background knowledge of my phone, it is rooted with superuser but has the OEM factory rom on it. I just installed the system update it kept bugging me to install which was Jellybean. Anything else you wanna know, just ask!
 
I cant copy that apk to my phone the way it is now. I will try and get it via my phones browser and see if I can install it that way. Thanks for the help. I will let yall know if it works. I think this is a common problem with the rush, because I have been searching for a few minutes and found tons of people with this same problem.
 
Tried the app and I even re-downloaded and re-installed the usb drivers directly from the samsung website and this is a no go. I cant imagine why this would be so hard to connect a phone to a computer via usb and transfer files. lol
