Android Question

I got a Samsung Tab 4 7-inch (Nook) tablet with 8GB device memory. I also put in a 32GB SD card which I foolishly thought would combine with the 8 already on the tablet - but NOOOOO. I keep getting low memory warnings and app failures because your system doesn't seem to be allowing the SD card to share the memory load.
Why is that? Do I have to dump the few games, photos, videos, and music in order to read a book?
I'm able to use the full 32 gigs I have on my iPod-Touch without any problems so with all the hype about how great Android is,... I feel like throwing my tablet against a wall.
Are there any Android tutorials for Mac users so I can do something (ANYTHING) with this thing??? I don't need any of the bloatware that's taking up nearly half of my 8 gigs so any suggestions out there would be great.
