Root [Merit] GO BACK TO STOCK--recovery / kernel / splash

stayboogy

Android Expert
These are updates that can be installed in either custom or stock recovery.

They will restore either the stock kernel, drivers, and modules;

or the stock recovery.img;

or the stock ZTE splash.img.

Merit Stock Kernel, Drivers, and Modules

Merit Stock Recovery

Merit/Avail stock ZTE Splash

Install these updates like you would any other update in the recovery of your choosing--if using stock recovery the zip must be named update.zip and on the root of your sdcard or it will not install.

Hello,
I have installed AreaRom on my phone previously and have since changed my rom. I attempted to use your Merit/Avail splash to overwrite the AreaRom splash back to stock, but it did not appear to work. I have tried flashing via TouchNav, and it does not appear to give an error of any kind, but the splash wont go away. I was wondering if I have to do some other step to remove the AreaRom splash.
Thank you much for your time,
Sincerely,
Patrick Mollohan

no, my splash installer installs the splash.img on to the splash partition. so if you see zte when it first comes on, then it got installed.

you are probably confused and referring to the AreaRom logo that is in the boot.img that displays after the splash on boot. this is a kernel logo, not the splash. if you want that removed, install another kernel

It's cool now, i accidentally bricked my phone last night trying out Out Of Ideas DeodexedRom w/ Root, and i fixed it with a recovery he had, now my challenge is to fix my recovery since CWM 6 wont boot

So main problem , no matter what z990g recovery i try to flash now (yes i have root permissions) it will not reboot into recovery anymore, so if i mess up my phone again i have no way to fix it

what do you mean it won't reboot into recovery?

have you tried just plain

"adb reboot recovery" from the terminal [assuming you have adb set up correctly on your pc]

have you tried turning the phone off, and holding the volume up and menu key, and turning the phone on to reboot into recovery?

***i suggest you go back to complete stock on everything, by using my nandroid (you'll have to pm me for access to it), then retry whatever it is that you have been doing in the first place.***

i highly doubt you've botched your phone to the point recovery will not work. it's possible but not very common

pm me

i suggest the tar version since you dont have a pc. you can easily access all the files and restore individual files without a pc and without going into recovery if you wanted to.

read the thread download which ever you want.

if you wish to flash from terminal extract the recovery.img from the update.

Ok thanks stayboogy i was hoping for your response seems you have been doing alot of work for this phone ill try your advice!

put the recovery.img on the root of your sdcard named "recovery.img"

go to your terminal and run

su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

and yes your stock recovery will install it. its the second option in the recovery. it doesnt wipe data it installs a zip as long as it is named "update.zip". the third option will wipe your data
