Help micrphone problems

So my girlfriend has an android bionic, since the jellybean update, the phone has been slowly dying. As of yesterday, the microphone in normal phone mode just doesn't seem to work, we tested it by putting the phone on speaker and then i could hear her just fine, the funny thing is the the voice to text feature seems to work just fine. any ideas on how to fix it?

Did she do an FDR since upgrading to JB? Not doing an FDR can cause issues like that.

[FDR = Factory Data Reset. Settings->Backup and Reset.]

Not yet, I have told her to back up everything so I can do that. But I will try that.

So she backed up everything and I did a Factory Data Reset and it didn't work, the microphone in the normal calling mode doesn't work, but yet the microphone in speaker mode works.
