I just got the droid mini. I love it. My issues. I am not the main account holder so I can not use Verizon program to sync. I use open office. I have a gmail account, same on phone and PC. I need to merge several calenders from my sons school into one on the phone and possibly the PC. I have 12 teachers email addresses I need to sync to the phone. And I would like to sync media. I can tether the phone to the PC, or use wi-fi. I do not believe my router has VPN.

There should still be a way to sync to your gmail contacts, etc.

For VoIP you could try Google Voice, Talkatone, etc.

For sync, I use AndroidSync which works over WiFi. Not the best app ever, but it works.
