Help Mobile Data Disconnected on Nexus 4 after 4.4.3 & 4.4.4

evendons

Lurker
My Nexus 4 has worked fine since purchase 17 months ago, but since the latest upgrades to 4.4.3 & 4.4.4 the phone status is Roaming = Not Roaming and Mobile network state = Disconnected, despite both items ticked under Mobile network settings.

APN settings have been checked OK with provider - TalkTalk, UK

Hoping someone can help, Jon :)

Not to be funny but can I ask did u do a build.prop edit . so the device will look for supplying you signal where you are and where you last turned off the device .

Are you rooted and what ROM are you using . try to edit prop file and see it that works if not post back for help
Thanks for your suggestions Brainz. I'm new to accessing these deeper phone settings, but installed a couple of build prop editors for the first time having already done factory reset.

I attempted to change ro.com.android.dataroaming = false to true, but it's not saving the change, so I guess the phone isn't rooted. For info this is the 16Gb Nexus 4.

So I appear to be no further forward in getting data roaming and data connection turned back on. Do you have any further suggestions?

Hi evendons, and welcome to Android Forums :)

I'd encourage you not to attempt editing the build.prop file unless you know exactly what you're doing - that's an easy way to render any device unusable.

I kind of wonder if there could be an issue with the radio firmware. I would suggest cleanly re-flashing the factory images, which should entirely eliminate any firmware/software-related issues. You can download the latest 4.4.4 images here, and there's a handy guide on how to flash them here.

Good luck!
