Root Morning Wierdness (Data Encrypted?)

I'm running CM9, the Rom from 3-18 (or thereabouts). This morning the alarm failed to go off, the phone looked like it had frozen, even the little green charge light was off (it was on the charger). I pulled the battery and it went through the reboot motions but never came too. I pulled the battery a second time but after the second boot, I see a screen telling me my data encryption had been unsuccessful and I needed to format and start again.

I decided to go back to my last CWM backup but I can't format /data (neither can the backup). The only way I found to get past this was to install the Virgin Revamp rom, which does it's own /format and allows me to continue.

Any idea why this happened or how to make sure it doesn't again?

Update: I can't install anything on this anymore. CWM crashes to a blank screen while restoring a backup or installing a Rom now. :-(

Seem to have a disk error on partition 10 from what I can work out.. :-( That's trying to format it using Ubuntu..

Sounds like you are using ver6 of CWM, that is the only one that I have seen the screen blank out when the zip was bad. I would suggest trying 5.0.2.7 and doing a factory reset, or installing b_randons Stock with splash, that way you don't loose CWM. I suggest trying that before you go the formatting in Ubuntu route. Partition 10 is one of the hidden partitions, I believe 9 and 10 are the hidden partitions and 11 is cache. To find a breakdown of the partitions I posted in the WIP CM9 thread but also on the second page of The Triumph Experiment thread. Good luck.

Edit: Also backup and format your SD card, to eliminate that as a problem.

I can't seem to get anything to work. How would I flash a Rom using Ubuntu so I can see exactly where it's failing? I'm fairly happy to find my way around Linux, am just not sure of the Android side of things.

Done the SDCard things, also tried with TWRP (as I had the archive on my SD).

Have gone to the darkside and got an LG Optimus Elite at BestBuy for $49. It's not as horrible as I thought it would be. Does anyone have any use for a Triumph with bad flash memory (but good screen mind)...?

Are you looking to get any $$ for it and, if so, how much? I don't live too far from Rockford so I'd be willing to pick it up and save the hassle of shipping.

I think I've written it off in my mind. If you want to come and get it I'll swap it for chocolate.. I also have a couple of spare batteries and a case. The chargers got reappropriated for Kindles.

I have the gas to get to Rockford today but I'm nearly broke until Monday so chocolate will have to wait :-( What did you have in mind as far as that goes?
