Help Music Player Crashing

The stock music player has recently started to freeze after about an hours use. It just stops dead and and then force closes after a minute or so. Is there a way of reinstalling it to see if that fixes it.

I've installed Poweramp as a possible alternative, but it's a bit haphazzard in its display of album art and doesn't appear to offer a pull down menu when running in the background so I'd like to keep using the stock player if I can.

Have you tried a soft reset and if that didn't/doesn't work, try a data factory reset but back up before you do the latter because you will loose your data.

If you have a lot of music, sometimes it will crash due to not having a large enough memory cache. I installed Cyanogen7 mod and went into settings and set the Virtual Memory to an extra 512mb havnt had sn issue since.

What do you call a lot of music?
I have 10 gig on my phone running stock froyo and never had an issue with the stock player.
