Root My Tilapia Is A Grouper Now

Hook

Ever since DU... ;-)
Yup, I threw away my 3G (I never used it much) and, as advised somewhere in these threads (but I don't remember where)and elsewhere, I flashed a Grouper version of TWRP and then flashed Dirty Unicorns (which I absolutely love on my Nexus 5).

It was really that simple. Just change the recovery. :D

The world of Grouper ROMs is open to me, but after opening the doors, I may just stay with DU as I really do love it.

You don't have to mess with build prop if you flash the Grouper version of TWRP because it i looking for a ROM that identifies itself in the build prop as a Grouper ROM. The tablets are identical aside from the 3G radio (thankfully-- ASUS could have screwed that up).

I've been using Franco ever since I rooted on stock. I had Art when I was using SLIMKAT, but switched back to Dalvik before flashing the recovery just in case. DU doesn't officially support ART (though I think it works fine), but to be honest, I don't notice much difference. I'll probably try again, but I don't think it's that big a deal and it makes boot time a lot longer.

I'll give Validus a shot, though I am a pretty big DU fan. First, I'm going to try out Multi-ROM (assuming it has no objection to installing a grouper version of the recovery it uses).

Yeah all the roms have that little warning saying they don't support ART. They basic just mean don't report a bug if you're running ART

It is lucky that the the required partition map lines up properly, I wouldn't have guess that they did.

That's why I didn't do it until I found a couple (more than one) of people who said they had done it successfully. ;)
