Help N7 2012 charge current draw?

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Hey peeps, I know the stock charger is 2A max output current but what charge current does the stock kernel actually draw/limit it to?

Also, has anyone found an app/widget that will measure incoming charge current that actually works on any device but preferably on the nexus tab.

Bit more technical, is it even technically possible to have an app measure charge current in real time or can it only work like some of the crappy ones I've seen that seem to just time how long it takes to charge by a certain voltage and "calculate" it from that?

One more question.. Does anyone know what the default charge current draw is with Franco Kernel on the N7?
(ive asked the man himself but he didn't have time to reply with a four digit number yet he could plus-one a post where I recommended his app) /rant sorry :D

It's strange that I should come across this topic during my normal forum browsing when I was going to ask the same question after I was done reading.

I've got a Nexus 7 that I use for navigation in my work truck, and a couple of months ago it started losing charge while navigating, even when plugged into the charger. The charger is supposed to supply a maximum of 2.1 amps, but it's obviously not supplying anywhere near that if I'm losing charge, but I'm not sure of the problem is with the Nexus not drawing enough, or the charger not supplying enough.

I'll do some testing and see what results I get with various chargers.

You could always get one of these - although from Amazon UK (and probably US too) it is a very expensive, they're available elsewhere at much lower cost. It's doubled in price at Amazon since I bought mine earlier this year, I'd recommend buying direct from China if you're not in a rush.

I've found it invaluable for diagnosis of charging faults and quite an eye-opener. No more guesswork :-)
