Help new to android and need help please

hey guys i posted this on another site and im guessing that one there had a answer so im hoping somone here will. i am new to the andriod world, i was a apple freak..lol. so now that i have my 1st android i like it, i have been reading about rooting and roms and have a idea of what it consists of. so here is what i am working with.

i have the Slide 3g on the reg software stuff and a mac

so how can i root my slide with a mac cause all the ones im seeing is how to root with a pc. i would love if i can get some help with at least the links to the things i need to dl i already dl what i think is the sdk for andriod but i cant find the root.zip for mac.
