Root newly rooted android samsung captivate 3g icon ALWAYS uploading/downloading, sending/receiving!

please help! 3g uploading/downloading always on, synching non stop and making my battery warm or hot! happy to mail a $20 bill to an address of your choice, a p.o. box, etc. (private message me) for someone who can 100% fix this with a simple, easy solution.. i am not a developer and need an easy fix, please.


just rooted a week ago. i used "titanium pro", "superuser elite", and "busybox installer pro". in my home, using a 3g microcell, my 3g icon is lighted up, lit up, turned on, activated, active, and always receives, is receiving, sends, is sending, uploads, is uploading, downloads, is downloading, synchs constantly, and does not turn off!

i deleted every sincle crap samsung and at&t app.

i like and use "daily briefing", but i have force closed it, frozen it and removed it from my screen, with no luck. before rooting, the upload/download arrows would come alive when i manually updated daily briefing for weather and ap news, but it would stop when i was non rooted. now it uploads/downloads constantly, and won't stop synching.

i use "program monitor", which is a samsung widget that turns different colors depending on ram/cpu demand, and the calendar widget which shows the next days google calendar events. yes, i have forced closed them, removed them from my screen, and i have frozen them in titatinium pro. i have also frozen market in titanium pro, but no luck. i have forced closed everything possible....

THE 3G ICON IS LIT UP AND ACTIVE, SHOWING UPLOAD, UPLOADING, DOWNLOAD, DOWNLOADING RECEIVING, RECEIVE, SEND, SENDING, SYNC.


BOTH THE 3G UP AND DOWN ARROWS ARE TURNED ON, WITH A SOLID OR SOMETIMES A DIM RED/GREEN, OR BOTH RED AND GREEN ARROWS ON. THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE I ROOTED A WEEK AGO.

i have gone onto quick app cache manager and forced closed literally everything i can think of, except apps that are needed to run my phone.

i have moved every possible app to sd card, via titanium pro when it allows to move "to external sd card". no, i have not done anything special, like create a rom, force to market, remove from market, bla, bla, bla, or anything fancy. i ONLY wanted to root for the pleasure of murdering 99.999% of the bloatware, which i have. i do NOT want to sideload, create a rom, whatever the hell that is, or anything fancy, period.

any ideas? YES, i have googled and searched for an hour for this issue, and on this forum, and have not found an answer.

i am a rooted 2.2 froyo at&t android samsung captivate.

in case i get several answers, i need, please, the simpliest, easiest method to fix this, and will go with the BEST and easiest answerer to send the $20. i wish i could send $20 to everyone, but i suppose you will need to trust me.. the person who gets the $20 will hopefully be honest and post i did in fact send it to them.

If I understand correctly, are you wanting to cut down on your 3G usage? If so, you can use Widgetsoid, create a Widget, and add an icon to toggle 3G on and off. Hope that helps.

my goal is NOT to turn off 3G. my goal is ONLY to have it stop freaking out and uploading/downloading 24/7, without any need to.

when i was stock, it never happened. after i rooted is when it freaked out. i forced closed all possible apps, and i still do not know the cause....

i just found out if i go to "accounts and sync", then go to "general sync settings", then only turn off "auto-sync", it stops the full time, always on, always synching, non stop 3g uploading/downloading and the 3g icon being light up indicating sending and receiving.

again, this NEVER occured when i was non-rooted. now i am rooted, it is uploads/downloads full time! i wish i knew why... although i know i can turn off 3g, i really only want the stupid phone to NOT upload/download 24/7, 365 for no reason.

i don't get WHY this happened only after i rooted a week ago, and i prefer it to work like it used to, with "auto-sync" occuring ONLY once a day, @ 6:00 am. i have google reminders and really want to leave on auto-sync, but now i can't.

i appreciate your answer, but i don't want to add another program, and turn off or on 3g all the time. i just want it to work like it used to, auto synching/checking in once a day with gmail, calendar and contacts.

thanks, however for trying. my goal is to leave auto sync on and resolve this another way so i get once a day auto synching on my contacts, gmail, and calendar.

edit: i may have caused this as i deleted the stock "email" app since i only use Gmail on my phone.


i did not want 2 email apps, and the stock Gmail was ok with me. i do not like my personal email to go to my phone, and only check my normal email at home. i only use Gmail because android requires it. i don't give out my Gmail address to anyone. thus, i did not want 2 email accounts on my phone.


well, the stock email app, although i never, ever used it, nor did i enter any settings, does have a setting for how often to update/sync.


i am wondering since i deleted the stock email app, if it caused an imbalance - allowing Gmail to go wild, even if i never used the stock email account. Gmail and the stock email app may be interrelated some how...
