Root Newly rooted phone freezes 1-2 times per day

It's a 2 year old Optimus V, ZV4, had 2.2.1. I carefully followed this recipe to root & install the BACKside-IHO-VM670-05022012 Gingerbread:
[HOW-TO] Simplified Root + Recovery + Custom ROM

Now it works great ...until it suddenly and unpredictably freezes. After a "freeze", the power button will turn the screen on/off, but it doesn't do anything else (no rebooting, etc.). The other buttons are useless. I pull the battery, and then it's OK for another 6-10 hours.

Any thoughts as to whether the CM7.2RC1-VM670-BobZhome-052012 ROM (or another ROM, possibly from this list) would be better? Or is there something I can do to fix the current installation? I ran "su, fix_permissions, reboot" in the terminal, and it didn't prevent the freeze-ups...

Also, on a separate topic: I didn't get the AAA or MSL before rooting. Would it be a good idea (and is it possible) to revert to the original Froyo ROM and get them?

Thanks in advance for any help with all them thar questions!

If you already have a ext.4 partition you could give it a try. That ROM requires there to be one already made on the sd card or it will hang on install.
The dev is constantly upgrading and improving the ROM so I can't say if it's as good or better than the MiRaGe as I havn't tried it in a while.

The latest MiRaGe ROM is now the most stable and secure ROM for the V.

Thanks AndyOpie150! I think I found the ROM on this page:
[ROM+Kernel] MiRaGe-CM7.2-IHO
Is that the one?

I've only installed the one Backside ROM after rooting last week. To install this different ROM, does this procedure (from Optimus V: All Things Root Guide (updated 12-2-2012)) look right:
6. Copy the unextracted ROM .zip that you wish to install to the /sdcard dir. Also if installing a CyanogenMod Gingerbread ROM, the unextracted gapps.zip version 20110828, also needs to be placed in the same dir to flash right after the ROM .zip.
7. Boot into Clockworkmod recovery mode (From powered off state, hold vol-down, home, and power button until the LG logo appears).
8. FIRST, BACKUP ORIGINAL ROM! Don't continue until this is successful. Use vol-up/down, camera, & back keys to navigate in recovery.
9. Wipe Data/Factory Reset, wipe cache partition. Under Advanced submenu, wipe dalvik-cache. Then uner Mounts & Storage submenu, format all partitions EXCEPT /sdcard.
10. Install the custom ROM.zip from sdcard and gapps.zip too if going to a CyanogenMod ROM
11. Reboot and enjoy the new ROM, the first boot takes longer than usual, also some problems may disappear after rebooting.

Also, on a separate topic: I didn't get the AAA or MSL before rooting. Would it be a good idea (and is it possible) to revert to the original Froyo ROM and get them? Is the above procedure good for that too?

Thanks mucho!!!

Lots of good info in the All Things Root Guide sticky.

Read: How to flash/install a flash_image, recovery, and ROM. Just updated with info for ZenGarden recovery.

All Gingerbread ROM's need the same Gapps. With the exception of the Mandylion and Harmonia2 which have the Gapps pre-installed (this goes against Google copyright laws).

ICS and Jellybean ROMs will have the Gapps needed for them posted in the developers thread/site.

Note: You don't need to put the ROM, Gapps, kernels, or anything else thats zipped onto the root of the sd card.
I made a folder called "all_rom_stuff" and put everthing from almost 2 years of flashing ROM's and kernels and themes and what not.
Flashed everything from the folder with the exception of the flash_image.bin and recovery.img's. These are the ones that have to be on the root of the sd card.
apk's also need to be on the root of the sd card before install.

You only need to flash the Froyo ROM as it does not require the Gapps (this leads me to think Google is mad at the CMteam for some reason, which is why all CM7, 9, and 10 ROMs don't have the Google apps pre-installed).

It would deffinetly benifit you to have those codes wrote down.
As long as you have a good backup and you never use the "Factory Reset" option in the Froyo or Stock ROM's settings then you can probably wait until after flashing a better Gingerbread ROM and making a backup of it.

Getting the AAA code requires a great deal of time, understanding, and patience.
Let me know when you decide to do this. I'll see if I can't walk you through the proccess.
