Help Nexus 5 help please

caegemba

Lurker
A friend of mine gave me his nexus 5 that had a boot-loop issue, i took it thinking it could be an easy fix. I flashed and original factory image to it and factory reset. It now boots but the camera, play store, and hangouts keep crashing and will not open and it also does not recognize my sim and when there is no sim in the phone it doesn't say anything about it. Is there anything i can do to fix these issues?

Hello there and welcome!
Sorry to hear about your issue with things crashing, but I've moved your thread into the Nexus 5 forum so that others with the device can help ya out;)
Good luck!

Wipe the cache in recovery and see if that helps with these issues.
Is the phone completely stock? (I know you indicated you flashed factory image - just want to check to see whether you just flashed system.img or all images). And which build did you flash?

Yes my phone is stock now and I flashed everything.

Since the phone is booting up, I am not sure flashing older versions of the firmware is going to be of much help (unless caegemba is ok with staying on the older version).
@caegemba - did you also wipe the cache in recovery? And which build are you on? (settings/about)

my build number is KRT16M and i have flash multiple versions on to the phone trying to correct this but nothing has helped. As soon as it starts up it says camera has stopped working and gallery has stopped working each time and when i start play store it says it has stopped working. Could this be a hardware issue?

KRT16M is the original version of KitKat (isn't that what the N5 originally shipped with?) While it should work, it might not be entirely compatible with the newer framework services. Have you tried taking it to the latest version of Lillipop? LMY48B

If the camera worked prior to flashing it, then it's not likely to be a hardware issue. Did the previous owner have a custom recovery or do any odd partitioning? I'd reflash everything .... cache partitions, user data, recovery, boot and system. That will be as clean as you can get it.

whenever i flash the newest version of lollipop i get a bootloop

As far as the sim card issue goes, can you confirm if the sim card has already been activated and if so for which carrier? Did you friend make an insurance claim against thus phone and thus cause the device 's IMEI to become blacklisted? If that's clean, then verification that the EFS partition is in tact might be necessary.

how are you flashing the images? Are you flashing using the flash-all? or flashing individual images? And if the latter, are you rebooting the bootloader after flashing the radio and the bootloader?

Just run the flash-all script, if you haven't already. It reboots the phone as needed. If you still can't get it to boot try the old KK images again. You may have to look and see if you have a screwed up partition somewhere

You said you flashed factory image, but did you also flash Gapps and SuperSu?
