Help Nexus 5: Phone on but screen remains black.

I have an unlocked Nexus 5 that worked perfectly for the first 10 months. Then the Wi-Fi starting encountering issues and my brother opened the phone up and tinkered with it. After that, the phone screen would not turn on and would remain black, but the phone was on as I could hear volume and screenshot noises. I have already opened it up and replaced the Flex Cable, which worked for about 2 minutes and then stopped working. But, strangely enough, if I bend the phone slightly with my hands, then the screen would turn on. This is leading me to believe this is a motherboard problem rather than a LCD screen problem. I have also triple checked all the connections. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @English Banana and welcome to Android Forums :)

Yours sounds very much like a hardware problem, but hardware problems are pretty tough for us to properly diagnose over the Internet. My guess would actually be that the flex cable isn't properly seated in its connector - but again, I can't say for sure without physical access to the device. Whatever the problem, it's very likely that it was directly caused when your brother opened the phone up and "tinkered" with it.

You'll probably want to find a reputable phone repair shop near you to correct what your brother "fixed". ;)

Good luck!
