^this.
I suggest ES File Explorer from Play just because It's what I know and probably the most popular in this site.
I have no experience in OTG yet but it's something I'm interested in.

Are you rooted,, custom rommed?

If the X box is wifi, surely you can just stream or transfer a file using wlan?
(just thinkin outside the box sorry if I'm talking pish)

The Nexus 7 doesn't have support for OTG storage of any sort so it won't work without help from an app.

If you're rooted you can use Stickmount to make the OTG device visible to any file manager, but rooted or not you can always use Nexus Media Importer which includes its own file manager and as the name implies is intended to read from OTG devices but can also write to them. It'd not free but is well supported by the developer and is what I currently use and recommend.

That is the app I use.
