Help Nexus OTA Updates

Gatman

Android Enthusiast
I just received an OTA update for my Nexus 9 to v. LRX21R. I just sideloaded Q a couple days ago, so I was surprised to see the update notification. I accepted it and it went through the installation, but at the end I got the error message with the little dead Android guy laying on his side.

I held the power button until it rebooted and I checked and it says it's on version R, but that error message has me nervous. So far I haven't noticed anything different except that when I go back to my home screen there is a white line down part of the screen that takes a second or two longer than the rest of the screen to refresh. I am going to have to play with it a bit to see if this persists.

Anyone else get this yet, and did you have any problems installing it?

I haven't installed yet. It's been bugging me to update but I'm waiting til I have a chance to update with the factory images.

Figured out this was from Dashclock. I have a bunch of stuff in there, and what is showing up is the scroll bar on the right. It's there for a couple seconds and then it disappears. This is new since updating to LRX21R.

I got the update several days ago. It installed with no problems. I really haven't noticed anything different with it.

I presume this tablet will be getting 5.1 at some point, my Nexus 5 got it weeks ago.

Not even a factory image available yet, bit odd.

I wouldn't mind LED implementation while they're at it!

I don't think we're going to see anything soon. We're already 5 weeks behind on 5.1, and they've just started rolling out 5.1.1. to the Nexus Player. My guess is they'll stop working on 5.1 for us and begin working on 5.1.1....which will likely come several weeks from now.

Almost what we wanted, Google

Damn my neighbors have slow internet. Waiting for the factory image to download.

And my apps are optimizing. This is the first time I've flashed my N9, and the first time I've flashed line-by-line instead of altering the Flash-all.bat

That's what neighbors are for :)

So far I'm hearing good things. Can't wait to get it up & running on my N9....
We just got power back on - yesterday was the first thunderstorm of the season & it was impressive!!!!! (in a bad way).

I got notification for 5.1.1. Downloaded and got error at installation. Now shows 5.0.2. Notification has comeup 2 more times with error at the android bot logo installation portion. What do I do?

Is your device rooted or stock?

Also, can you provide more information about the error? Is there a specific error message? Can you describe what happens?

Stock.

When I click install and restart, it shuts down, then brings up the android robot on black screen. Says installing and then about 30% it just says "error" with red triangle caution sign.

I then have to hold power button to reboot.

No I mean 5.0.2

LTE tabs are designed differently than their WiFi only brethren. The ota for the LTE variants are just now being pushed out.

Hi everyone, I tried to update the N9 to latest update and it says error. Anyone able to tell me why it says error, what if anything can I do about ?

Thanks

I now have a Nexus 9 because the latest system update I accepted on my Nexus 7 made that device virtually unusable. My Nexus 9 works fine with Android 5.1.1 installed and now I'm being asked to do a system update which, given my bad experience with the Nexus 7 (which I really liked!), I'm very reluctant to do. I read online about problems with Nexus 9 post-system updates. Does anyone have any insights on the system updates for the Nexus 9? Thanks!

Should have held on to the n7. Mine has all updates and runs perfectly.
My n9, I just updated to marshmallow and rooted. Runs perfectly.
