Help Nexus won't turn on or charge

Hitokage

Lurker
I'm sure you've seen this a lot before, but I turned my tablet off for the night after it reached a full charge, and when I tried to turn it back on the next morning, it would not turn on. I then plugged it in to the charger since that normally wakes it up, but it did not react the the charger either. I browsed some forums to find a fix, but everything I tried (plugging it into a PC, holding all 3 buttons down, holding the power button down, etc) failed to work. In fact it didn't even show up on the PC I used. I'm not rooted, O don't mod anything, and it shouldn't be a virus because ESET would have alerted to it, so is there any fix? Bear in mind I can't remove the back, and would prefer to keep all of my files on it.

Hi Hitokage, welcome to Android Forums.

Why can't you remove the back? It just pops off :-)

One possibility is a loose battery connection, quite common in the N7. Pop off the back and make sure the connector is snug.

Another possibility is that something held the CPU awake until the battery died - I've had this happen (once) with my N7 - in which case the device will appear dead for all practical purposes. Connect it to the charger and leave for a long time - several days is typical - before trying to power it up; it may appear to do nothing but it will eventually start to work normally.

The N7 seems to use a very slow trickle charge with "dead" batteries presumably for safety reasons, but once it gets over the initial "dead" battery state it will start charging normally again.
