Nokia Lumia 920...

As I've noted elsewhere in the forum, for smartphones work standardized on the iPhone a few years back.

Since I'm in the IT group, when my Samsung Jack (the iteration after the BlackJackII) was dying I talked my way into getting the Nokia Windows phone instead. (I really didn't want to become an iDiot). :D

The phone has been very solid in every way. It has frozen maybe four times, I think all of them were in the first year and updates appear to have resolved it (since the battery isn't removable you have to do a forced reset, but it's always been fine, no loss of data, etc.). I only have three complaints: one, the ranging light on the camera is visible, so you can't ever take a picture without everyone knowing you're taking it (no casual shots at a party, etc.); two, the native browser (a stripped down version of IE, of course) allows you to only have six tabs open at any time and there is no way to organize favorites (other than by creatively naming them), so it's just a looooong list of sites; and three, there isn't a whole lot of apps, though for me that's fine because I'm not a huge app user.

Last night I got the alert that there were updates available, and it was a small package that would then enable the upgrade to 8.1...so I installed them.

This morning when I connected to wifi at work the 8.1 update started downloading (my data settings are configured that way) and I let it go ahead and install (it's finishing up, actually it's probably done by now).

I really haven't read anything about the changes to the mobile version of 8.1, so It will be interesting to see what's new and different.

As though anyone here cares, of course. :D :D :D
