Note 5 Top left screen unresponsive

nbolos

Lurker
Hi new here, I purchased my Note 5 from Bestbuy a few weeks ago and I noticed right away that the top left screen is unresponsive with my touch. So I brought it back to Bestbuy and I even showed the issue to the in-house Samsung guys and they advised me to have it replaced so Bestbuy did replace it. The quick fix is when I restart the phone it starts working but then the problem persists after awhile. Now this replacement phone is having the same issue. Is there anyone here is experiencing the same?? If so how did you deal with it?? Can Samsung do anything about this? Thanks.

WELCOME TO ANDROID FORUMS nbolos !

I do not have the issue with mine, but,I found this thread in another website that offers a few suggestions.
Odd as they may seem, they're easy enough to try & just as easy to revert back,if the fixes don't work.........

Thanks for the link. I read some of the suggestions and will definitely try them. I will update you one I have seen some improvements, or not.

Uninstalling Facebook Messenger solved the problem for me.

Was extremely crippling, as many menu selections are on the upper left corner.

I'm expecting FB will fix it soon.

Thanks for your reply. I have already uninstalled messenger and now observing. I'm just wondering how did you know that it was messenger that's causing the problem?

I encountered the same problem and took much the same approach you have here in researching forums.

I have read that reinstalling messenger will recreate the problem, so again I'm leaving it uninstalled until I get confirmation that such a phone breaking bug as this is fixed.

I have had the same problem.. I had no idea it could be messenger! I wouldn't have even thought it could be an app... I just kept restarting my phone! Very interesting!!

I totally agree with you. But for some reason it works fine after uninstalling the messenger. Unexplainable..

It just started again and instead of restarting it I did the uninstall... and it worked fine after!! Thanks for the info!!

Does any one here know if messenger can be reinstalled now?

Seeing how FB updates messenger almost weekly I would say try it. You can always uninstall it again. I would with my S6 edge, but have never had an issue in the first place. Clearly, from the posts above it was FB Messenger that was the issue.

I just experienced the same issue for the second time and saw this thread.Messenger is definitely the problem I am guessing the updates are what cause this because it was working fine for a while and then suddenly it didn't.Thanks for the help yet again Kolio and Ian Endicott
