Nothing can sway me from the passion!!

vzwfanboy

Newbie
Even without a 4.3 inch touchscreen this phone will be the best phone on the market IMO. I think sense on android is the perfect match. Any of you still excited about this phone despite it having a 3.7 inch display.

htc-hd2,any inputs on this monster?

thread Hijack!! :p:rolleyes:

I am very excited, for the passion,

& everything else in the Future of Android! :)

2.0(+)
And
SenseUI?
Rumored Snapdragon processor?

All that Android Hardware developers need to do in future devices is integrate say, 8GB, or 16GB, 32GB internal memory(for app installations etc), and maybe even have an added seperate SD Card slot for even additional storage! Bonus!

I smell a knockout!

Even a simple 2GB (negligible cost) internal memory would be huge for app storage. Not sure why this isn't already an automatic.

2GB would definitely be a good start in the right direction. Like any computer though, that will fill up faster than one would expect.

I threw the 8, 16, then 32GB idea, for the simple fact that the Android Market will do nothing but continue to grow.
AND
App Size & quantity a person could very well grow in time....I know my # of apps is constantly on the rise...
AND
Gaming?

Gaming is one of the BIGGEST sellers in the Itunes/App Store.

Imagine what it will do for an app store with ZERO Restrictions on DEV??
CHA CHINGGGGG!

Anywho,
The Passion is gunna be a MONSTER! with SENSE!!!!!

I cannot wait to hold this device in my hands, and run around in 2.0(+) WITH SENSE!!!!
I will be there on Release Day!

Maybe we should start blowing UP hTC's Twitter page & DEMAND some Official Word....

HTC (htc) on Twitter

I've read that Google is working on integrating Apps2SD into future versions of Android. This can be done by rooting and using an app on your Android phone now. Apps are saved to the SD card and the internal RAM is just for widgets, running apps, and caches. maybe by Android 3.0 ?!?

I'm sure Google knows they almost have to for all the Android devices that don't have that internal memory capacity in the GB's...

I figure at some point, all the higher end, future Android Devices will all have a whopping internal storage space for apps, and everything else.

CMON, Passion, Dragon, whatever...just get here.

Is anyone else excited to see this phone makes its appearance in Verizon stores? ;)

Go on! Keep believing this is headed towards Verizon!

What I DO believe is that Verizon will eventually end up getting SOMETHING...
Something Android with higher specs than the Moto Droid.

Verizon could name the phone, the hTC Cookie Monster for all I care! :p

VZW will eventually have something more (& better) to offer than the Moto Droid & hTC Eris. Not that either devices are bad.
I think they are both excellent devices compared to others in VZW's lineup, not to mention any other carrier.

What are your thoughts choffy21??

Of course. AT&T will eventually get something better than the Droid and Eris eventually as well. I know I'm exaggerating your time frame, but you get my point.

I think Google has a bit of loyalty to T-Mobile. While I'm not sure who contacted who, you have to remember that T-Mobile launched the first Android device, and started all of this, the Droid, the Eris, the Hero, etc.

My prediction? This phone we're talking about now is the Passion. T-Mobile exclusive. Later this year (June-ish?), something very similar (most likely Bravo) gets released on Verizon. Sprint and AT&T get the shaft, especially AT&T due to all of the trash talk against Android they've done the past month.

Either way, I win. Between T-Mobile and Verizon (I currently have T-Mobile), whoever has the better phone in Febuary (when my contract expires) gets my money.

Unfortunately I agree with you. I don't see any evidence of Verizon getting this phone in January, despite how many folks here seem certain it will happen.

Here's the problem. Google announced a partnership with Verizon in early October, not T-Mobile. I've heard this same "loyalty" bit with regards to HTC and T-Mobile. I'm not buying loyalty theories.

The truth of the matter is that if Google is trying to sell their own branded phone, they're not getting good market penetration by staying exclusive with the (distant) 4th largest carrier. And if the phone is unlocked, it may just have the capability of dropping in any SIM card (GSM version) so that would make exclusivity difficult. I think there will be a CDMA version released in conjunction, and that because of the partnership with Google, they very much want to penetrate the customer base of the largest US carrier now, not in 6 months. Likely these phones will be relatively expensive, but available unlocked. Carriers may be able to carry them and subsidize them if given the option by Google, and THAT may be where exclusivity with T-Mobile or Verizon comes from. I'm thinking anyone will be able to pick this phone up, regardless of carrier, but AT&T and Sprint customers will only have the option of full retail, non-subsidized purchase. Call it semi-exlusive. There will be a lot fewer customers that will want to shell out full price for this phone.

Before we even knew T-Mobile was sniffing this phone, we knew a connect mentioned a possible "pushed up" release date for the Passion on Verizon. Without any official release from anyone, is there any more solid evidence than anonymous sources confirming this phone for T-Mobile, besides the general fact that the google employees are toting around GSM phones? If Google wants their phone to be a success, they're gonna have to make themselves available to more than T-Mobile's customer base.

I don't know how the "unlocked" part of this is going to work with companies like Verizon. After your two year contract, if you don't buy a new phone that they are subsidizing, you are still paying $$$ for their service and network. I don't see Verizon giving away their service because you bought an unlocked phone at full price some place else. If I have to pay over $1000/year in service, I want big savings on my phone....

The idea of Google creating a second CDMA phone is pretty unlikely. It would be like a car company building a front-engine car and a rear-engine car and making them both look the same on the outside -a waste of time and resources.

By google creating an unlocked GSM phone they are tapping the largest percentage of users worldwide.

Compound the fact that Verizon plans on phasing out it's current CDMA protocol over the next couple years and it makes the odds of a CDMA-Nexus even more unlikely.

Verizon may actually go back to how they were before; getting "new" phones when they're old to everyone else SMH

I still smell that Verizon & Google Partnership announced back in October.
Verizon is NOT going to start the new year off by not bringing more devices.
What time is it? Its always time to make $$$$, thats what time it is.

In all honesty, I don't think ANY carrier is going to get left empty handed. It doesn't make sense.
Whats that saying? ? ?

"If it don't make dollars, then it don't make cents!"

One of Google's main priorities is to spread Android devices like WILDFIRE...
Get Android everywhere.
They're going to do it. GO TEAM ANDROID!

Time will tell people...
Time WILL tell.

Unless somethin majorly new comes up Google wont be making much on this deal IF the Nexus One goes Consumer and IF its not subsidized and IF google follows the same pricing as their other developer phones. Maybe they have enough money to sell at a substantial loss (of course the playstation came out at a price point of a substantial loss and that was $400). But if they dont knock down the price I cant see too many people getting it.

More like:

"It don't make sense if it don't make cents."

But close enough.

I'm actually right on with what I was talking about.;) The saying I am referring to is found in many songs.
The originating song I am referring to is:

Artist: DJ Quik
Album: Safe + Sound (1995)/Murder Was the Case soundtrack Released in 1994
Song: Dollaz + Sense

*chorus*

If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense
So don't kill game, let the pimpin commence
If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense
So don't kill game, let the people, commence
If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense
So don't kill game, let the pimpin commence
If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense
Because you gotta give it up to the crown prince

I've also seen it spelled the way I originally quoted the phrase, on T-Shirts.

Can also be found in several other songs.

Oh you were quoting a song. I've heard my version much more often.

Oh well.
