[Official] Extended Batteries

Wow! I'm curious what kinds of users need such a large battery. I guess I could see it for people who might be constantly on the move for a few days straight, hopping international flights and then on the move all day long.

I got the slightly extended battery for my Galaxy Nexus, and then kept the original (always charged) in a card/ coin pouch that is in my wallet. I've had to switch it out with some frequency. I probably won't need to do it with this phone since it keeps much better battery life, but if the normal sized battery is cheap enough, I might do keep one in my wallet just in case of emergency. The 7,000 mah plus required battery door won't quite be portable enough for that, though. lol.

I'm on the fence with getting an extended battery or sticking with the stock one as I find fitting cases much easier. I have my Droid Bionic right now with the extended battery and right now it has about the same juice as the the stock battery did when I first got it. As long as the SG4 can get by on nightly charges, I'll just stick with the stock batter and opt for a case so I don't have to deal with the phone's exterior. But I am worried that the stock battery will wear out quicker than I hope like my Bionic did. Guess I could always just buy another stock sized battery to replace it, will have to see.

If your fine with with a plain colored tpu case (black, white or blue for the s3), the case that comes with it actually is pretty nice and adds a fair amount of protection.

I can't say I have any complaints, granted I miss the original look/feel with the stock battery. But I can easily over look that to get 2-3 days on a single charge in my s3 with the 7000mh zero lemon :)

Took a peek at my Bionic's extended battery, 2760mh. And the GS4 will be 2660mh. Hmmm. Depending how hungry the battery consumption for the GS4 I may just stick with the stock battery haha.
If it does prove to be a thirsty bugger, then just maybe I'll consider that zero lemon battery. Though that oversized juice box for a battery must be huge.

If it's designed for like the s3 zero, it'll be more long than it is wide, covers up the sd slot is its only downside. just 3 batteries wired together pretty much :p

Be careful with some of the mega chunga batteries, since some designs cover the antennas. My experience with Samsung phones is we do not need anything in the way besides the plastic ;)

That link BTW does not link to the S4.

We need more power!!!

I found this 3,500 mAh battery: Samsung Galaxy Galaxy S 4G (i9000) 3500 mAh Extended Life Battery - T-Mobile

I think something better may be out there. Consider this 7,000 mAh battery for the SIII: This 7000mAh Galaxy S III Battery Will Power your Phone Till The Cows Come Home, And It's Only $34

Does anyone have the skinny on extended batteries and cases to protect the phones with extended batteries?

Have you checked eBay already? Being the S4 is still fairly new I doubt retailers are already marketing extended batteries. I could always be wrong though.

subscribed.

even though i already have 3 cases (and no phone, lol) i am interested in extended batteries for times when i'm traveling, etc. i'd prefer slim extended to maintain a reasonable form factor, but willing to throw that out the window for the huge extended.

yeah, you're right

Hopefully you didn't buy this battery, as it is NOT for the Galaxy S4 that came out a few days ago. The battery you've linked to is for the Galaxy S 4G which is a completely different, older model.

It's a bit confusing with the S4 and the S 4G classification, so be careful when ordering products online for your GALAXY S4!!

You're right.

Do you have the link for the S4 battery?

Just keep in mind, Samsung typically fills up stock battery to max capacity which is also limited by it's physical size (number of cells it can fit in). So, any stock size battery claiming more than 2600 mAh will be bull (typical for HK retailers with fake battery labels). The same goes for double size extended capacity 5200 mAh. I wouldn't be surprised if Mugen will offer 5400 mAh, like they did that with Note 2 by squeezing a few more mAh in. Anything you see on ebay or Amazon claiming 6000 mAh or so will be a lie. Since you guys mentioned Zerolemon 3x capacity battery, I'm sure they will have one for S4 as well. Right now, we (N2 owners ;)) still enjoying their 9300 mAh release from a few weeks ago, and ZL guys are working on new rugged case for N2 battery. So mostly likely expect ZL triple capacity S4 battery mid/late summer; just my guess. With extended double capacity, I'm sure Mugen (although way too overpriced), Anker, and Hyperion will be trusted sources. Be cautious with ebay stuff, beside lying about extra capacity often they can't even meet OEM capacity (I tested their "Gold" battery to find it 1000 mAh less than OEM capacity, while their label claimed 1100 mAh over stock capacity lol!!!).

Please keep this thread updated as new batteries come out. I'm going to be fine with this hyperion battery for a while. It will make my phone thicker, but that's okay.

I guess manufacturers are learning from S3 success to release new accessories ASAP :) I see that Anker just released their 5200 mAh extended battery with either Dark blue or White battery covers, NFC support, and their typical 18-months warranty. Pretty good value for $17.99 shipped.

Amazon.com: Anker

They made good batteries for my past & current products.

I agree. What's usually important for me, something I mention in a lot of my reviews, the warranty. If company offers 18 months warranty for their product, it means they believe in quality of it. Otherwise they will be out of business with constant replacements...

Hello,
Any extended batteries without having to replace the original back door? On my s3 I was able to get a Mungen (sp?) Battery without having to swap the OEM back door.

Should be getting my S4 in a week or so.

While the battery life on most smartphones is pretty poor, rather than have a fat battery and ugly cover, I just carry a spare charged battery. I need to use it about once a week.

Is there any reason why you wouldn't want to do that instead of using an extended battery?

Just buy a spare battery and change batteries if you run out. That's what I did with my S2 and that approach served me well for two years.
