[Official] What Changes Have You Noticed After Updating to 2.2 (Froyo)?

Yes, the phone is properly going to sleep even with the GPS enabled, and even after you have run an app that uses GPS. Before, the phone would not sleep once you had run an app that uses the GPS. You had to go into settings and either toggle or turn off GPS.

I've been running 2.2 since the leak was released and haven't turned off the GPS at all. Battery life is better on 2.2 with the GPS on than it was with 2.1 with the GPS off!

2.2 is fly and working great things, however TouchDown app that brings up mail/calender etc from an exchange server is NOT working anymore. Seems like 2.2 killed the certificate sub routine. Anyone have a fix or ideas to get back online with mail?

PS wrote to the guys at Nitro and put the blame on Google. Said 'I had to hang in there'
I have heard that exchange works fine on Froyo without the need for TouchDown, so you shouldn't need to use it to get your mail client working with exchange.

Does this mean that I can leave GPS enabled for any apps that might need it?

Yes, mine has been on for 3 hours, when I turned it on I was at roughly 80% battery life, now, I am at around 70% battery life, which seems pretty normal charge drop over 3 hours from what I have observed in the past on my phone.

EDIT: I am running with Wifi and GPS enabled full time now and my battery is dropping slower than it did on 2.1, I use to get down to anywhere from 40-60% by the time I went to bed with both Wifi and GPS disabled, and now with them both enabled I am getting down to around 60-70% by the time I go to bed.

ok i'm going to sound really stupid...

but i can't find where it says "android version" where are ya'll finding this information... ???

had anybody noticed the new interface when viewing the gallery? I like the animation much better... when viewing a picture what is the HDMI on the top left? does it allow you to connect to something? Another thing here which is a HUGE HUGE HUGE upgrade and nobody on here could figure out what I was saying I posted in 2 threads about it, is the camera zoom issue is finally fixed! the camera was litterally zoomed in slightly and you take a picture of something infront of you, you literrally had to back up like a step or two just to capture everything in the picture... this is finally fixed! so happy about that, i don't know why nobody else noticed that or had a problemw it being zoomed... oh but the other thing is where did the my tags go ?!?!?!!? This was my favorite thing... :( i know there's 3rd party apps... but i loved the my tags kind of like the footprints on the htc... i loved knowing where i've been... i know I can still go to hard menu and click location but it's just not the same

I'm definitely noticing a small drop in battery life since the update. With 2.1, I had managed to set things up so that I'd manage about 3 hours of "Screen On" time with moderate internet and voice usage. In addition, with syncing off, I could pretty much wrangle as much idle time as I wanted.

Now my battery usage seems to have increased in both the Active and Idle categories. A perfect example would be overnight battery usage. With data set to turn off after 15 mins in 2.1, I would experience no detectable battery drain overnight. In 2.2, I lose about 10 percent overnight.

A couple observations -

- The slide to answer call is smooth as butter.

Well now....this is interesting....I have a button to push for answering....

Anyone else have a button to push for answering calls?

I thought I had this the other day as well, but I could swear I saw a new slider right after upgrading. So I just tested. If I am on the lock screen and get a call I have a slider to answer the call. If I am using my phone (not on the lock screen) I get an answer button.

You're both right. Its is smooth, very smooth. This needs to be the screen unlock....

And yea I noticed it listening to music, the slider popped up. I never noticed it before. Somehow I always saw the answer button.

Didnt read everything, but two little bugs I noticed were the bottom of the screen with the contacts doesnt fade when moving screens. one thing that kind of bother me though was if I make a shortcut for a contact it gives them a someone elses picture instead of the actual picture on the contact. Other than that, really loving my x with froyo

I am experiencing the exact opposite. Fairly light usage today (emails on push, a 5-10 minute phone call, a few text and emails sent), but I normally drop down to about 60% battery life by the time I go to bed (or lower, with the same usage, but with wifi and GPS disabled all day), here I am right now at 60% battery life, GPS has been enabled since 4:30 PM EST (11:30 PM EST now) and wifi has been enabled all day, and I am still sitting at 60%.

In fact, Wifi is reporting 7% battery usage, which is lower than LP is reporting (8%), and wifi has been enabled ALL day and connected to my home wireless network.

In short, I am getting the same battery life I had on 2.1, but WITH wifi and GPS enabled for 12+ hours instead of with them both disabled.

One very annoying change is that you can no longer disable Screen Lock and keep Pattern Lock enabled. 2.1 had a separate checkbox which was nice because I use WidgetLocker. Now with 2.2 I can no longer do this and I have to slide to unlock twice. Very annoying.

phone is amazing to me now....handcent is just the only thing pissing me off.....and i can never seem to click on the battery in the battery manager.....and i tried after wiping the phone and using the SFB file...just closes its self

My phone (especially the browser (stock our dolphin)) now runs like shit after this update. It is now almost unacceptably laggy. No one to blame but myself I guess. I wish there was a way back to 2.1.

there is. look in the all things root sub-forum. just need to root and it's fairly simple to revert back.

In browser settings, flash should be set to on demand.

My started boot looping and a reset solved it and other problems. I think a wipe is probably required when changing versions like this.

I discovered another quirk. I shot some video a few days ago which totaled 248MB. I tried to do a "share" to YouTube and it gave me back a message that videos had to be less than 1GB. I tried a couple more results with the same results. I pulled the file off the phone and uploaded with the laptop and it was fine.
