Old phone owners: How long would you wait for the Passion/Dragon?

We have been teased with Black Friday and Mid-December release date rumors and both seem to be passing by without a peep. According to a recent Engadget article, something that may in fact be the Passion/Dragon is being unveiled at a conference in February 2010. While it's nice to hear something official, that is also bad news for us over eager blog checking chaps.

So, with the Passion/Dragon release looking distant and the Eris looking pretty good, how long will you wait until you cash in your NE2/contract renewal and pull the trigger on something else?

I want a 4.3 inch screen and Android with no keyboard...That's what I've been teased with...that's now what's burned into my head....I will take no less!

I HAD...a Storm1 for a work phone, but could NOT wait any longer on the Passion/Dragon to shed light. I got to the point where I didn't want to use it anymore. I was even running the latest unofficial beta OS. Picked up the Moto Droid.
Going to pick up the Passion/Dragon for my personal phone, whenever that may be.
Hopefully I, nor anyone else will have to wait past Jan early Feb.

A great surprise would be that it releases before Xmas.
HoHum, still no FCC news, still no new photos, nothing.
Only thing recent really is Passion & Dragon being listed in the leaked Android 2.1 ROM. Going to continue staring at the original full device pic from theunlockr.

Fingers crossed things will change before Santa & all that jazz hits.
I like others here, are fiending to have a larger screen & more powerful Android device in hands.

Tuff question for me, because my AT&T contract expires Jan 9th. I already started a new contract for my wife and son with VZ when BB had the Chocolate phones for free last weekend. I may get the Droid or Eris Jan 9th and pray the Passion comes out before Feb 9th.... The other option is for me to use my son's phone for a month on VZ and hold out as long as I have to, but he won't be happy with that plan! I guess my 3rd option is to stay on AT&T month to month, but having two providers every month will get expensive.

I think I'm going to go get a Droid today.

The more I read the more I think it's going to be a while before the HTC whatever comes out.

Before hearing about the Passion I was going to wait for the fabled Jan 22 OTA before getting a Droid. If it isn't out by then -- or isn't a Verizon phone -- I'll go with the Droid.

I'm willing to wait for quite a while for an Android 4" touchscreen. My jailbroken 3GS will more than take care of me until this phone comes out. My contract is already up with VZW on my Storm and I still use it when AT&Ts coverage just isn't cutting it.

I'm tired of taking baby steps with these smartphones so I will hold out until i can get myself a large, powerful touchscreen, who knows, the specs might get even better. If this phone doesn't show up by the spring, I might start getting a little anxious for something new but I'm good for now.

I had been waiting since the middle of november for the dragon/ passion. I gave in last wednesday and ordered the droid. It arrived thursday.

I chose the last (longest timeframe) option, but in reality I'm going to wait until about mid-summer 2010 at the most. At that point, the iPhone 4G should be out and on Verizon, so if no Passion by then... hellooooo iPhone.

Development has not come to a screeching halt. There has to be a bigger, faster, Android phone out by end of Q1. The real question for me is will it come out in the next 6 weeks. That is what I don't know, but I'm hoping hard for.... And once I get my Passion, I'm getting off this website for a year. Nothing robs you of happiness like always lusting after the next toy around the corner.

Very very true.I have waited 2 months now for the 4.3 screen and the bells and whistles to come along with the phone.I could not settle for less at this point in the waiting game..Could you?

I am sure something will be out to meet the needs of the many by Mid Feb.
