Root One Stop Shopping for Fascinate Kernels

Hey Guys! I'm thinking about making the switch to voodoo. I've been reading everything I can, but it all starts to blend after a while :) I'm on Jt's superclean v9 DJ05 and stupidfast 1.98, DJ05 kernal and radio. As far as I can tell flashing a voodoo kernal is just like flashing any other, I just need to disable lagfix in Red CWR if I wanted to flash a non-voodoo kernal correct? I just want to know of a fairly stable voodoo kernal that I should use. I know that all the uv,sv,oc,lv etc has to do with overclocking/undervoltage right? I just don't know what all those abbrev stand for (like sv...) I still need to read up on ADB, install SDK, etc in case I need to use it. I don't really care about overclocking, I just want the lagfix that comes with voodoo. Also, I'm pretty sure that when a stable 2.2 rom is released, that it will require voodoo kernals?? Any info or advice would be appreciated.

it looks like any kaos froyo versions will require you to be on voodoo prior to flashing :)

Yes flashing voodoo is same as flashing non voodoo. And you can disable lagfix through red clockwork to flash a non voodoo. The abbr are oc-overclock sv standard voltage lv-low voltage ul-ultra low. The best way to find what's right for you is just trial and error. Phones vary on what they can handle. Some are great with lower voltage and some will not accept it at all.

Ok, so if I started with OTB ul 1100 or 1200 that would be a good place to start and if I want try the sv versions?? I would like to have good battery life over anything else. I'm not one to try every single kernel if I don't have to :)

Imo 1100ul would be a good place to start a lil oc with better battery life

Thats what I thought, so I figured its time to jump into the deep end with all the big kids, lol. Anyways, I got to where I am now without any problems and now I'm bored  Still contemplating putting on your purple theme. I just like to switch colors so often that the ADW skins have been working out well...

Ok, I installed the OTB ul 1100 no problem, booted into red CWR and made a backup... that's it? I will try this out for a bit. How about imnuts -100v 1/08 kernel, is that something worth trying out?

karib yes if you want max battery life its best to go with the imnuts uv stuff. If you phone can handle the uv its the best stuff out there. Outside of intense 3d games you wont notice much difference between 1000 and 1200Mhz. For battery stick with imnuts. It seems 4 out of 5 can pull off his -100mv so start there IMO. I mean I am a huge OTB fan and it was practical for me since I did do those kinda apps/games but overall and for non gaming the 1Ghz is plenty. Not to mention the uv on imnuts is the same as nemesis2all 800Mhz and below

Well I'm NOT an intense gamer so 1Ghz should be plenty for me. I will try this one next and see how stable it is for me. Thanks for all the help guys! Now I'm off to go snowboarding for a while with the family :p

They aren't posted yet, but it looks like imnuts is updating his kernels today:

01/19/2011
Update to init.rc for BLN 2.3 to try and fix notification lights
Updated battery polling interval from 2 sec to 5 sec
Fix to disable media mount courtesy of Adrynalyne and SirGatez
Update Froyo kernels to work with Kaoscinate V3

When going from one Voodoo to another, do you need to do anything special? Or can I just use Odin to flash one of Imnuts uv kernels in?

Kernels are flashing in clockwork thats all you need and yes you can throw voodoo right over voodoo; nothing special needed
