Operating Smasung captivate (SGH-I897) without sim

Is there a way to operate this phone as a Wifi/ net phone with no phone service?

I only need it to access apps and such over wifi connections.

Hiya and welcome to android forums!

Actually it's very possible. Quite a few years ago when I owned the captivate myself, I upgraded and occasionally used it as a wifi device without any problems.

It helps to turn on airplane mode to get rid of that pesky no sim card error as well.

Thanks for the movin my post.

I actually ended up bricking the phone lol. Luckily after a bit of research it was only a soft brick and ive recovered! Learning so fast.
