Help Optimus One with dual antenna - is it really better?

I read somewhere Optimus one has 2 physical antennas because of some RX thing.. I just can't find the article again... So what I will like to know is, does having 2 antennas really boost mobile signal (because my workplace has really bad reception)? And having 2 antennas consistently search for signal, will it use more power?

Yes believe me, this feature is gold, i have a shitty service provider whose service bars don't even show on my other phones including nokia,

But amazingly my optimus one shows 3 bars of network coverage
.... now how awesome is that!!!!!

Rx divesity is probably the best feature, i have yet to see any other phone with this feature

my gosh! i just got my optimus one 2 days ago and brought it to my work place which has horrible reception where it went searching for signal all day draining the batt of my HTC touch by afternoon. i got 3 bars for optimus one!! this dual antenna thing rocks! :D

Just got an Optimus one, was excited about the dual antenna, however, at work, I could do more browsing with my old sony erriccson c903. Do I need to install the dual feature to gain the better reception ???

Hi,
Nope, there isn't any software/hardware feature that needs to be installed.
Browser can be a function of many factors viz, speed, coverage, browser. Try to explore other network dependent features like voice clarity etc..

I personally have benefited from this, wherein my earlier nokia failed to work properly.

okay, im sorry if im such a noob here but i just want to ask are the 2 antennas a built-in feature or an additional which you have to buy separately? im planning to buy this phone so im really curious what its good features are. thanks for bearing with me! :)

All built in

Aas far as you are concerned, it is just better at getting a signal.

As a first time Android user, I am very happy with the phone. It seems to do everything that any Android phone can do, at a rather reasonable price.

My one complaint is that the sync software is rubbish (as in 'does not work' bad).

However, if you are happy to store your contact details in Gmail on the web, then it works perfectly fine.

(I choose to store my contacts in Outlook and prefer to sync directly to the phone, rather than sync Outlook to gmail and gmail to the phone. Most people will be happy to sync with a web address book and have no problem)

I suppose that one possible complaint it that is does not support flash - but I don't find that a problem

Otherwise, it is a great phone.

okay i think i could live with the sync software problem and the no flash support is some bad news but yeah, i don't believe that for O1's price i could get everything. i think with those things stated i could live with for atleast a couple of months. thank you so much! :)

No problem.

Enjoy it. There's a short learning curve to get the basics. Then, after a week or so, you'll want to ask more technical questions, while you explore the advanced abilities and see what it has under the bonnet. It's all friendly - occasionally you will need to get your head around to their way of thinking, but nothing horrible.

Plus, the great news is taht any question you might have can be typed straight into Google and the chances are that a step-by-step guide to the solution will be on the first page.

thank you again. you guys have been so helpful. i hope you guys could still help me with other stuffs and questions. im really such a noob here. *facepalm*
