Help OS or phone?

Of the many annoyances vexing me, there are only two I can't confidently blame on hardware. I'm definitely not buying HTC again, but I'd still like to know if these issues are with the phone or the Android OS.

First, my ring tone keeps resetting itself to the default tone for no apparent reason. Not a big deal, but it's annoying. How can I set a ring tone permanently, without my phone forgetting my choice every 3 days?

Secondly, my phone keeps erasing my pictures. They're fine for a while, but once I accumulate a few hindred my phone nukes them. Is that something all androids do, or just HTC phones? Because it's stupid.

I also can't disable autocorrect, but I know that's an android issue. This is my first android phone, and I am not impressed. I'm also not fond of iPhones, blackberries, or windows anything. If these ridiculous issues are a universal part of the android os, I might go back to a flip phone.

Take a look at an app called lightflow, you should be able to set and keep custom ring tones with that.

Not sure on the deleting pics issue, first I've heard for the One X, HTC phones and Android in general.

Have you thought about factory resetting? That can clear niggles like you're experiencing, if you need to back stuff up before hand (apps/data etc), use helium backup on Play.

Thanks for the tips. I'm afraid of losing my save data on Final Fantasy Dimensions, Bard's Tale, and My Little Pony. MLP in particular because I've bought premium currency for that one. I might look into that backup app you recommended. Do you know if it can back up my save data or is it just for pictures and stuff?

I do use dropbox on my phone. I've found that if I dropbox all my pics every night and then delete them all myself, it works fine. That's incredibly tedious, but it keeps them safe. I tend to accumulate a lot of things browsing tumblr at work. It's just that sometimes I forget and it gets away from me, and then suddenly 700+ pics become unusable (some disappear, some are labeled corrupted and blank themselves when all of them worked fine the day before). So I kind of have a workaround, but it's not as good as having a functional gallery.

I will absolutely get lightflow, and thank you very much for the suggestion. It bothers me that I need a third party app for something phones have been able to do out of the box for upwards of ten years, but having a workaround is nice.

I factory reset my mates sensation, backing up with helium before hand and he lost nothing. Game saves, app data etc, all restored fine after the reset.

Not sure about the stuff you've specifically mentioned, but I'm sure it would be fine. :).

Do you have any other 3rd Party dialer apps that might control ringtones etc? Seems odd they're reverting for no reason.
