Root Paranoid Android FAQ?

Hi,

I rooted my Nexus 7 (2012) a while back now using Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit, however I've always stuck to the official Google builds.

Now I'm running KK 4.4.4 and I'm getting severe battery drain (even when in standby) that I didn't get with JB and the tablet just seems slower. I've wiped my Nexus and re-flashed to 4.4.4 but still getting battery drain (and probably unrelated, but charging seems much slower).

For this reason, and because I'm a tinkerer, I'd like to try a custom rom. I don't really want to go back to JB.
I see many posts saying to try Paranoid Android, but I can't seem to find any information or screen shots about it.

Please can anyone point me to any resources or tell me why I should upgrade/flash to PA? What are the advantages?
Also, does can you point me to a good flash guide? Can I do so with the aforementioned Wugs toolkit?

Sorry for the noob questions and many thanks.:)

Advantages to custom ROMs are usually just that; CUSTOM! :)
It's been quite some time since I've run Paranoid but their biggest claim to fame were they were one of the first to offer individual app changes to DPI, essentially changing the size factor of how an app appears on your screen.
This was helpful because since the majority of Android apps still aren't designed for tablets, they can look weird, stretched out, just terrible.
Paranoid was also one of the few new guys who brought "tablet mode" to their tablets and phones (recall how Honeycomb and ICS looked on tablets?).
Aside from that, Paranoid has a multitude of customizations like many other AOSP ROMs (you'll find a lot are similar).

In regard to flashing, here's a link to the XDA thread for Paranoid, and Paranoids site for downloads:

If you have the wifi only 2012 Nexus 7, follow links/downloads for "grouper" not "tilapia".

If you're just rooted stock, you'll need to flash a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod (CWM) or Team Win (TWRP). You can find the directions here:
