Pathetic HSPA+ Speed in NY (Forest Hills)

ATT S2 in Forest Hills NY, 1.5MB down, 1.2MB up. Thought it was my phone, went to their corp store and tested S2 on display, virtually same speed. ATT New York is really pathetic.

the data speeds in NY are terrible. I'm in Yonkers and I'll get 3Mbps down at home but in White Plains (my job), I'll get 500Kbps down.

its aweful and annoying lol

I was in Boston once with my iPhone and couldn't even get a data connection period. I could make calls and send texts, but trying to open Facebook or Safari was an exercise in futility. Of course, once I got out of the city it was just fine...

Ask for refund. If my phone says I'm connected to HSPA+, then I should be at least somewhere near that speed, otherwise, the phone should just say Edge/GRPS etc.

That's like saying you have a gig ethernet connection to your router and only get half that speed when 12 other computers are downloading on the network. You could still be getting HSPA+ DATA connection but getting lower speed.

Yea, I live in northern NJ and have been on ATT for many years (over 5 different company name changes) and rarely see decent speeds across any phone I have ever owned. On my Infuse 4G I usually get 1-2Mbps. On the rare occasions when I get high speeds (5 - 8 Mbps) the ping is like 2500ms which makes it totally useless anyway. 25Mbps speeds if you are getting 2500ms ping may as well be 50kbps.

Should have my GSII next week and I don't expect any better.

ATT does refund, you just have to argue with them. When you consistently getting less than 1mb/s on HSPA+ even in off-peak traffic, that's just ridiculous.

Sorry, unless they are having tower problems in your area I highly doubt it. Refund for what? You don't pay extra for a 4G data plan you just pay for a DATA plan. Maybe they'll give you a courtesy refund of a couple bucks once just to shut you up but you can be sure it's not "policy."

I agree, it is horrible, but what if you live in an area with no "+"? You still pay the same. There is no "4G" fee.
