I've had my LG F6 since Feb 1. For the past few weeks, i'd increasingly encounterd storage issues. I don't use a lot of apps or anything and I cleaned cache often, mind you.

It got to the point where I had to delete several apps I'd had on my phone forever just to make space for a lousy 15MB app, even though according to my phone I had way more than that available.

I found myself having to delete more and more apps to deal with increasingly small amount of storage. I did a factory reset for unrelated reasons, and voila! Storage issues are gone, and I now have plenty of storage available, even after bringing back all the apps I'd had before.

Can anyone tell me the reason for this? What got wiped out by the factory reset that was occupying so much space?

Keep in mind that the apps you download are not the only thing that takes up storage on your device. A common problem I encounter is the amount of stored mms in the messages. A master reset will delete EVERYTHING on your phone including the occupying mms and text messages.

That might be ONE reason why you received more storage.

Download towelroot...root your phone...download ES file explorer and enable root explorer in settings, and go in a delete all of the Metro apps you don't need.

It'll free up SOME space, not a lot..but better then nothing

My husband has the same issues with his phone. I deleted some apps, all of his pics, messages and calls and it still says his storage is full. I see a lot of temp files and other stuff but I don't know what can be safely deleted so I just leave them alone.

If your not rooted theres nothing you can delete that will mess up the phone. Temp files are ok. What alot of people dont realize is the majority of space is takin up by app updates of preloaded apps. Disable and uninstall updates on any app you dont use. Espicially google apps. Like newstand music google games google + hangouts ect ect. If your not using these apps theres no reason to let them update and take up huge amounts of space. After they update these are 40 to 50 mb apps. Just uninstall the updates and disable the app so it doesnt reupdate. That opens some space up. Also lg loads there phones with preloaded themes and useless dictonary apps and such. You can uninstall these. Basically just go through your app list is settings and anything you see as an app you dont use get rid of and unistall the updates. If its a major app that affects the phone your not able to disable it so theres no chance of doing any harm.

I've converted user apps to system apps (since the system is a different storage). Does doing so take away swap space from the system or cause other problems?
