Phantom Skinz...GRR!

So I chose to get a Phantom Skinz after reading the reviews. My older Droid was having major reboot issues, so I just exchanged it 3 days ago. Once I determined this new Droid had no glaring issues, it was off to install my phantom...

Took 1.5 hours. Wasn't thrilled at the way the corners worked, but it was doable. HOWEVER, when I went to take the dog out and bent over to pick up a ball to throw for him, the once-sticky droid (now slick with the full body skinz), slipped right out of my hoodie pocket.

"woo!" I thought. "Good thing I installed the Skinz..."

OF COURSE the only place that was scratched was the 1mm of bezel that is not covered by the strangely-engineered top/corner cover. Kinda ticked that I wasted $20, 1.5 hours, only to make my phone slick enough to fall and have it scratched where the "full body" cover didn't cover.

WAH!

I can't see your image, but I sense your frustration! This sorta stuff happens to the best of us, so don't worry about it. It'll pass buddy.

Hey Kara, I call guys and girls dude. Kinda like the surfer gender neutral "Duuuuude" kinda way. There's really not many gender neutral ways to express these kinds of things.

Sorry, dude . Honestly, I would consider removing the back protection if you are concerned about slipping. The soft touch material that motorola utilizes is extremely durable. My phone has been naked since the launch date, no scratches. The only thing I ended up buying a skin for was the screen, as unfortunately it will scratch.

I had a moto q for 2 years before this phone, covered in the same soft touch material, and it stayed practically flawless.

I guess a case would be the safest option, as ANY film would have had the same type of problem, not just a phantom skin. Sucks though, I would be pissed. I have actually seen soft-touch rubber coatings get really banged up after just a few months, rough surfaces tend to tear into them.

that sucks... closest thing to total coverage and easier application was ghost armor. I tried PhantomSkinz, BoxWave for touchscreen, and Zagg. Like the feel of PhantomSkinz but could not get it on properly after hours of trying. So I went with Ghost Armor and it had the same no texture non-sticky feel so it worked however it won't cover that same 1mm bezel spot but it does cover more than PhantomSkinz.

I got the bodyguardz for my droid and I love it. Actually makes it easier to hold on but I don't notice any problems using the screen. I have bought three of them 1. droid 2. touch pro 3. env3. All of them went on in less than an hour and after a couple days there are no bubbles or anything. I did notice that it turned the flat black into a shiny look but other than that I love them. They also offer a lifetime replacement and send you to covers to start. When I did the touch pro which was the first time I screwed up the screen cover and just pulled it off and put on the second one. Then I sent in the one I screwed up and they mailed me a replacement no problem.

... is what I've ended up with. Phantom was too slippery, and I put a visible scratch into it as well.

Don't like the Zagg on the screen, since it is a bit "tacky" and impedes easy fingersliding for me.

However, that "tacky" really works for you in terms of making the phone easier to hang on to and harder to slip. Might have prevented the hoodydrop.

And this weekend, I'm going to try slicing up the screen portion into little strips and get that 1mm bezel tacky and protected, too.

Toughest part is coming up w/ 24 hours of non-use to let the thing dry strong. I'm always using it.
