In order to receive the proper help you should really include when did it start (after what changes you did)? What steps you have tried to fix the problem? Is the headphone jack working? And any other pertinent information to help get you an answer.
That being said, there are several "fixes".
Plug/unplug headphones repeatedly.
Blow into headphone jack or use a can of compressed air.
Use a paperclip or toothpick to dislodge any debris.
Step #3 with some rubbing alcohol (unplug charger and remove battery, wait until completely dry).
Vacuum the headphone jack (unplug charger and remove the battery).
Use graphite powder from hardware store (~$5, in squeeze tube - one poof, then do step #1, tap out rest).
Factory reset (Conflicting settings).
Flash another ROM (Firmware related).
Get another Tribute (Hardware related).
What I would do before doing any of those steps would be to check ALL settings throughout the phone. If its not hardware related, then somewhere something is amiss (which is fixable).
There are a few more apps that will help accomplish this goal, but I strongly suggest fixing the problem instead of band-aiding it. Post back with your results.
