Phone runs slow for past several months...

...mainly press button to open an app and there is a several second delay opening.

settings-apps-running shows about 80-100MB free regularly. Currently running are: Dialer One, Voxer, Clean Master, Malwarebytes, Google Voice, Uverse MailDroid, Wifi Matic, Alarm Clock Extreme, Facebook, Current Caller ID, and several google services and Vz Cloud/sync service.

I've got about 90 apps from play store and just a few from amazon appstore.

Will deleting apps help? or is this a specific app that could be causing lag? Or is this phone just to the point with all the google app updates, etc that it just lags from low RAM?

thanks in advance

Did you Wipe Cache Partition? In many cases this solves this king of problem.

I have wiped cache with Clean Master app, but not via recovery. I'll try that now. This way?

Power the device off.
Press and hold the Volume Up / Down then press the Power button.
When presented with the Boot Mode Selection Menu, release all buttons.
Press Volume Down to select Recovery then press Volume Up.
From the Droid triage screen:
Press and hold Volume down.
Press and release Volume up.
Release Volume down.
Select wipe cache partition then press the Power button.
Note Use Volume keys to navigate options.
Select reboot system now then press the Power button.

The next question is ... you updated to Jelly Bean. Did you do a Factory Data Reset after that upgrade? It is highly recommended.

I did not factory reset after upgrade. I know it's recommended, but with all my files and apps, companies shouldn't expect customers to wipe their phones after each update.

Hope that's not what I have to do.

Android Facebook app is known to be a big resource hog....................

Yes it is. I've debated on deleting it many times. I don't use it often anymore. I tried Friendcaster, but it would leave off certain friends' feeds because of 3rd party apps.
