I have a Motorola Razr HD with 4.1.2, never rooted, and I've been using it without a problem for about half a year.
Today I was chatting with a friend using WhatsApp+, which is a modified WhatsApp that I've also been using for a long time without problems, but I sent a lot of wallpapers until it said "Insufficient memory. Try again later." or something like that, and wouldn't send any other picture I wanted to. WA+ has an option to change the file size limit and the picture resizing the normal WA does by default. I had set the limit to 21 mb and no picture resizing months ago. To try to solve the new memory problem, I changed the limit to 25 mb and re-enabled picture resizing to default so that it sent smaller pictures. To save changes, WA+ restarted and I finished sending pictures, but when I tried to exit, it wouldn't respond, or would very slowly. It made the animation of exiting the app, but the homescreen was black. Only the notification bar and the back, home and multitask soft keys appeared.
I rebooted the phone and it seemed OK again, but now when I open any app and try to exit it, it gets really slow and the black homescreen returns. Every time this happens I have to reboot the phone.
I have tried setting WA+ to how I had it before any of this, didn't work, so I uninstalled it and it didn't work either. I had Nova Luncher and I changed it back to stock launcher and it didn't work. I hope somebody can help me and sorry for the long post.

TL;DR
Phone screen goes black/stops responding after trying to exit any app. Normal reboot doesn't help.
