Help Phone wont charge

This is my 2nd moment in less than 1 yr. I had my phone on the charger all night and it was only half charged this morning. When i plug in the charger it will only charge for a second and quits. I am taking it to the sprint store tomorrow. Will they offer me a different phone? I dont like this phone and havent liked it since day 1.

The first thing I would do is try a different charger. The chargers sometimes just burn out.

The second thing I would do is make sure the phone is turned off when you try charging it again and see if it keeps charging.

Finally, it might be the battery.

If all of the above fails to solve the problem, then the problem could be inside the phone.

The problem is inside the phone. Same problem that was wrong with my first moment. Of course, they are ordering a refurbished moment which will more than likely be junk just like the other 2.

Seems to be a common problem with the Moment. I exchanged a couple for the same reason.

In some cases, the phone would charge perfectly.
In some cases, the phone would report that it's charging, but it really wouldn't.
In other cases, the phone wouldn't acknowledge the charger, and wouldn't charge.
Some nights, I would be awakened by the notification sound of the phone connecting the charger, then disconnecting the charger.....continuously.

It was always a roll of the dice when I plugged my charger into the phone.

As someone else mentioned, it's an internal problem. If you're under warranty, get a new one. If you're eligible for an upgrade, now might be the time to ditch it.

I am eligible for the yearly upgrade but i dont have that kind of money to pay for a phone right now. I have to deal with holding the charger in a certain spot so it will charge long enough to use it until tomorrow after 2; when my refurbished moment is here.

From my experience in this and other forums, usb ports are a weak point for all phones but the Moment isn't any more susceptible to failure there than any other device. As for swaps, I've read many post where people were offered either a Intercept or a Hero as a replacement and a couple where someone was able to obtain a Transform. The Intercept and Transform are both (hopefully improved) variants of the Moment with either less (Intercept) or more (Transform) hardware/features attached. A coworker just got a VM Intercept and I'm not impressed at all. He hasn't experienced any lockup (good) yet but the screen is lower resolution and there is no camera flash. It does feel a bit smaller in the hand, but I think the keyboard on the Moment felt better. The Hero still has a great dev community behind it, but it's O-L-D!

I really miss the old cradle chargers that would charge an extra battery for you. I used to use Sanyo phones and always bought the cradle with an extra battery. Then I would always keep one battery in the cradle and just swap out batteries keep going.

You'd think with smart phone battery consumption what it is, that someone would think to bring this system back.

I had my moment for about a year and a half and did not experience this problem. I did experience a few other minor issues with it.

The moment was pretty good for what it was at the time it was released, but I think it was rushed a little and was not quite ready for prime-time when it came out.

When I picked up this refurbished phone last week, i asked the guy at the sprint store if they get this same problem often since my last moment did the same thing. He said they have had quiet a few people having the same problem.

I took my Samsung Moment back to Sprint last week because the GPS quit working. I had it for about 14 months. I got a replacement (refurbished) and used it for about a week and now it won't take a charge. I tried three different wall chargers and a car charger. I took it back to Sprint today and a new replacement will be here tomorrow. The tech says that the Moment is a low end Android phone, and I should just use my upgrade benefit and get a new phone. I explained to him that in January I am fleeing from Sprint and just want to ride it out. Hopefully, this one works and I can make it till then.
