Help Playon App - Free Trial - Netflix

la sal

Android Expert
Has anyone tried the free trial with the Playon App? I downloaded it last night and I paired my PC and Epic (2.2). Everything runs fine on my Epic except the Netflix. It says that it is unable to stream.

Anyone else having issues with the Netflix or I am missing something?

1. It really helps if your PC that has Playon installed on has AT LEAST a 3gb cpu. It takes alot of memory to stream/transcode web media content.

2. It will work with a less robust PC - but just not as well and you should have 1gb of memory available too ( on the Playon PC)

3. After you install the software (trial was yours, correct?) the very first time you try to connect from your Android you MUST do it over a WIRELESS connection. This is very critical to further use of this.

4. In Playon settings, make sure you enabled Netflix with your accouts username and password. Same goes for Hulu, Pandora, etc.

5. Microsoft IE 8 (with Silverlight installed ) is supposed to be required to avoid
a "stream not found / null" error - which sounds like might be what you are encountering.

I upgraded my PC to all of the above specs and even upgraded my wireless router to one that can stream UPNP/dlna media content (Linksys e 3000)

If you have any other issues, let me know. Been there, done that

The one that really catches my is IE8. I upgraded to IE9 and it did not work. I click on IE and the screen comes up and my text "melts" down the screen. Looked in the CP panel and couldn't find where to uninstall IE9. I have been using Foxfire instead.

How can I get IE9 off my computer?

for Windows? You might try uninstalling and then reinstalling IE with the
installation version and then upgrade to IE8.

If not, just go on over to microsoft.com and the knowledge base and you'll find the answer there.

from your Vista. Did you say you tried Control Panel->Add remove programs already?

That would be the first way to delete IE9. Knowing Microsoft though, it will probably try and prevent you from uninstalling IE.

That's why you should use the disk.

One other suggestion I highly recommend.......

go to the forums section (Windows Vista or Internet Explorer) of

CNET. They are VERY helpful and have alot of knowledge about his kind of stuff.

All of the latest info is there, not here.

Best of luck to you. I can help with PlayON, but try those forums first.
;)

I went to the Control Panel and there was no option for uninstalling it.

You need to select the 'View Installed Updates' link from left pane. Under the Microsoft Windows group, you'll have IE9. Uninstall that and Vista automatically restores IE 8. :)
(Note: A restart of the Windows OS is mandatory after the IE 9 uninstall)
