Help Please help re 4.2 upgarde

Hi all

have had the one x for 10 months and my son has one x plus. No issues on mine at all over this time. My son upgraded his to android 4.2 on Thursday with no issues.

He upgraded mine too and the problems then began. Since that I cannot get on wifi. My wife's phone,ipad, laptop and sky dongle can do so easily.

Can anyone please advise?

I,ve rebooted all etc and wonder if a factory reset on my one x is the best method.

After the 4.2 upgrade I am also suffering from bad wifi connections.

I thought it was my router playing up.

Hopefully a factory reset isnt the only option.
 
A factory reset usually sorts most issues out after an OTA Update (not always though). For a bit more info, see here: http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x-xl/666917-jb-update-issues-factory-resets-please-read.html

With apps like Helium Backup (a total backup solution for non rooted devices), it's not actually that difficult to get setup again afterwards.

Before doing that, have you tried giving yourself a static IP? That's helped WiFi issues for many in the past.
 
Settings - Wifi - long press your connection name - modify network - advanced - static.

Then enter your network info.

Default gateway is your routers internal ip, subnet will most likely be 255.255.255.0 and your IP will just be something in your routers range.

Make sense?
 
Thanks the 1st bit made sense but the numbers seem a bit out of my knowledge zone. Will run it rest of night and let you know. Thanks again
 
Really scunnered (Scottish expression for extreme frustration) on my on going problems with my HTC. Tried El Presidente advice and worked a brief time.

Nothing since and after factory reset problem remains with no or very short periods of wifi.

Prior to the upgrade on Thu been crap.

Since any advice gratefully received.
 
Thanks for this again up and running now. There are channels which have more stars than others. Should I pick one of these. Thanks
