Problem charging my Nexus 7

Is there another charger you can use to check if it'l work? If it doesn't, I think it might be the usb connector. If you're still under warranty, take the tablet back to the shop for them to fix it. If not, you can try to repair it yourself, if you're willing to take the risk.

I removed the back cover and gently mashed down on the charging receptacle for the mini USB cord - it worked! :)

Over recent weeks I made the problem by wiggling the cord and making the receptacle looser and looser.

Bad news - the replacement part did not work, probably because it's delicate work. Someone said the sodder (sp) on charging ports often fails. Anyway, I have a Nexus 7 that is unusable unless the charging port can be repaired...it was working until the batteries died. Don't know if a charging stand can also transfer data. I miss it.

So I got a 7-inch Nook HD at a good price. It's a great reader - the most important thing, but the Nook interface over Android is annoying to say the least...a number of apps won't work. Don't know if Nook has a subforum here - hope I'm not a heretic. I'll get a straight Android device next when my budget allows.

Update/Recap: My Nexus 7 is around to be raised from the dead if someone can fix the charge port - I did not succeed. :( got a Nook HD for $99 and was a good deal for the price. The resolution @ 1920x1024 is great. The two big downsides is no cameras, and the Nook overlay on the OS limits what I can download from Google Play, etc. Can't put in a camera, but I got a 32GB micro SD, downloaded AndroidForNook and booted it up to run on pure Android! Yes, I can remove the chip if I want to boot into the factory Nook OS, but why would I want to do that? OK, I chose AndroidForNook out of fear I might brick my tablet, but it was very easy to install - just don't be shy on pulling the rubber SD cover and don't turn the tablet off midstream.

I'm back in the Android world and happy to be back. :)

I'm trying to connect a mouse and keyboard to my Nook Color running AndroidForNook. I know it can be done bluetooth, but also trying to do it with a USB.
