Root Problem installing update.

Hello all,

I've got a small update problem with my HTC Tattoo.

It's rooted and I have ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5 installed on it. It was originally on Orange UK, but now has the stock HTC firmware on it. All thanks to this forum, I found all the info here on what to do.

I've been getting a message about a system update (1.67.405.70 Update:HTC Peep Client). I click the "Install now" button and it reboots to try and install the update.

But after about a minute, I get the following messages in the ClockworkMod recovery software.
ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5
Finding update package
Opening
Verifying
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted

So I boot back into the phone and the update has no happened.

Anyone got any ideas how I can get it to install? It seems the problem is with the "signature verification failed" message, but I've not had much luck finding out what to do.

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Tony.

Welcome to the forums, tonybod.

That error message is common to devices which have had the radio in them changed, either during a root procedure or intentionally as part of an OTA or other update.

Sometimes, removing root and then doing a factory data reset will restore things to the point of acceptance of updates without fail, but not always.

Others with that device will chime in and give more specific help, but I'd seriously consider starting over with the device.

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I don't understand what you mean by having the radio changed. Can you explain a little more please?

Does anyone know where the update files are downloaded to on the HTC Tattoo? I'd like to try deleting the update file and see if it downloads again, but I cannot find it anywhere.
